From this I learned that people are very willing to help the environment, they only need something worthwhile to support. For this I need to create a quality product that is easy for people to understand and more convenient than the traditional way of doing things. During my interview I also learned how to interview people and try to make them feel comfortable on camera. Also I learned some of the most awkward ways you can ask a stranger for an interview.
Hey Nahel, great idea you have here! I definitely agree with your opportunity of creating an app that would eliminate the paper receipts. Just like one of your interviewers said emailing receipts is kinda annoying. They just take up space in the inbox, but an app would be great! Your post is very well written, you asked some very straight forwards questions, not leading at all and that's great. Overall, love your idea! ReplyDeleteHey Nahel! Its cool that I was in this group project with you, so I know exactly how everything works. I loved the idea we came up with and how to help conserve the planet and eliminate unnecessary waste such as pointless receipts. Your questions all relate to your topic and idea, so the feedback you got from people was impactful on your new innovation idea. Mine was on another idea I worked on in our Innovation classes. Here is the link to mine: http://kmglickman.blogspot.com/2016/01/customer-interviews-no-1.html. You should check it out!
ReplyDeleteI love the app idea. It is a great way to incorporate the world problem of sustainability into a product idea. Your post is super well-written and thought out and I respect the effort you put into your blog. Overall, think your idea is great, anad if you would like to read my blog go to: http://mitchallenent3003.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteRight now most companies offer to email you a receipt. I really do not like that idea because they end up filling up my inbox with annoying flyers for things I have no interest in buying, then selling my email address to other companies so I get their flyers too. Your idea I think is better, an app that does not give my email address to everyone and their dog, I would totally use that. I do not keep many receipts, but when I do I usually lose it before I need it.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! You definitely seem to have taken this pretty seriously. I do hope that your business idea ends up working out and leading to a change in this excessive waste of paper. I really do think you are on to something, and I think that your method of interviewing people was very effective. Since you already have an idea in mind of what you are planning on doing, I think leaving out some of those "tour" questions was fine. I really like what you did, and I hope when we get to Interview Customers No. 2, I can do something that looks as well thought out.

Nahel,
ReplyDeleteI would like to start off by saying that I loved your interviews because they were very informal and the atmosphere seemed friendly. Although some of your interviewees looked nervous, it seemed that you were able to calm them down by the end of the interview. As for the service itself, I don’t know if I really see a market for it as most business already have an option to email your receipt. And I know that once I make obsolete purchases (like food, gas, etc.), I don’t keep the receipts because there’s no way that I would return the items. The only reason that I keep receipts is to return things. Perhaps by catering to a different market, the idea will be more successful, in my opinion.
I didn’t do this assignment, but here is my blog if you want to check it out:

P.S. I love your blog title lol
I think you did a great job with your interviews, they seemed friendlier than maybe they could have been. Maybe by starting them off by introducing the person you are interviewing will give it more of a sense of formality and might break the ice. As far as your interview though I think you gathered a lot of information and you have definitely pegged a great opportunity. Talking from personal experience, I try to save every single receipt, they usually end up getting crumpled but I do intend to save them just in case so I think you app idea is awesome!! ReplyDeleteHello Nahel, I really liked and enjoyed your idea of asking students about paper conservancy. It is such big thing that a lot of us, college students, completely forget about on a day to day level. It doesn't surprise that college students are willing to change and save paper, they just need to become aware of the companies and products they can support to help with this. I also enjoyed watching your videos!!
ReplyDeletep.s. hi Nahel ;)
Nahel,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Also pretty simple and cost effective to implement which is always a good thing. Like your first customer review, I never save a receipt and a lot of times merchants will print out the receipt and give it to you without asking and I know I'm just going to crumple up the receipt and throw it somewhere. I think most people could agree it's a good idea for a product especially those who don't prefer to keep receipts because they can really be handy sometimes especially when you're trying to return something so it's nice to know there could be something made to keep those receipts without you even thinking about it and you can access them and print them if you ever really needed
Hello, Nahel
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed watching the interviews with your potential customers. My interview experience was embarrassing and a little bit awkward. Your idea is really thoughtful of the environment, and at the same time, a cost effective way of saving the company money. I have a hard time myself keeping track of all the receipts I get. I'm curious to see how your idea pans out in the upcoming weeks.

Nahel, I really thought your questions were direct and on track! However, I didn't find the question, "How often do you buy things?" to be quite relevant. Many places offer e-receipts, a receipt sent via email. During your videos, it seemed like you were rushing by. Your interview 2 seemed a little goofy, as your interviewee messed up, but you've decided to keep it. Overall, I appreciate your questions and you seemed interested during your interviews!
ReplyDeleteI see why everyone has left such positive comments! This was great! I liked your questions they were very effective and your idea is actually similar to one that i thought of. It is a very practical idea that i could see a lot of people using an app for receipts. try to ask your questions as fluently as possible .
ReplyDeleteThis is a very creative and innovative idea! I agree that a certain point, most of the paper that we keep is unnecessary waste and if we keep any, it's messy and unorganized. I think many consumers would benefit from using this database since technology has taken over. Definitely take the feedback you received from your target market and apply it to your product. Overall, great job on your interviews!
ReplyDeleteYour questions were short and sweet. It's clear to see that people are intrigued by the idea and I’m sure you would have many downloads. It would be interesting to see how well such an app would perform across different age demographics. If you could create a viable system, I think you could sell to one of the big financial players (Quickbooks, H&R Block, etc.). I could see this being really powerful for people who prefer to itemize when filing their taxes.
