Free Money
Giving away money was actually kind of fun. To be honest there was no real strategy other than directly approaching them and handing them money. When they asked me why I was giving away money I usually made up a funny reason like "me and this dollar are having a fight and I just can't see it anymore". I tried to give money to people who I actually thought needed it though and two of my dollars were given to homeless people but out of respect for them I did not film those two. Out of the two that I did film my strategy was just to find pretty girls in all honesty lol. Here are the videos! Out of this experience is that people can be very hostile even when somebody is doing a nice thing and that it feels very good to give money to those who really need it.

Hey Nahel!
ReplyDeleteI think that your strategy to try to give away the money was interesting. People generally tend to appreciate humor and would probably go along with your joke. For some reason, I think that your videos did not post. I am not able to find them. I wish that I could see them because I think that the people's reactions could be really interesting. You should make sure to check on the status of those videos so that you do not lose points. I was unable to complete the assignment, but I enjoyed hearing about your experience.
Hello Nahel,
ReplyDeleteI am really glad that you actually enjoyed this assignment. I also really like your strategy and the reasons why you were doing it. Taking assignments in a not so serious manner can help you increase your confidence while you are doing the exercise, which in this case was giving away free money. I also share your respect for homeless people and I love that you gave away some money for them as well. I wouldn't have recorded them either because it would be a little disrespectful, but what really counts is that you were able to help them. Overall, this assignment was tough because people don't really know if they should trust you or not, which is why you have to be able to show a great attitude and confidence while you are doing this sorts of assignments. Great job!
Hey! I absolutely loved your approach and loved that you enjoyed this assignment so much. I think that with your jokes and humor, people may be more inclined to take the dollar and I'm curious if those same people would have taken the dollar if you may not have been so nice. Also, I liked the fact you gave the dollars to people who looked as though they needed them, instead of just random people. They definitely deserved it more, and I'm sure they appreciated it! ReplyDeleteHello Nahel,
ReplyDeleteWish I could have seen your videos, but I can’t find them in your blog. I do like the way you conducted your interviews; humor is always a good way to break the ice. I also thought it was a classy move not recording the homeless. I was amazed but not surprised at the reactions that I received while trying to give away free money. I heard all kinds of excuses of why people would not feel comfortable in not accepting the money. One guy said he was from New York and they didn’t do things like that there. Hopefully you can get your videos to post; I would like to see them. If you want to see my videos check out my blog. http://9to5isoverrated.blogspot.com/2016/02/free-money.html
This has been an interesting assignment to see, I unfortunately was unable to complete it. I like the criteria that you utilized for choosing individuals to give money too. The homeless are always worthy and then pretty girls. Those selections made me laugh. I would have loved to see your videos, but they are not here to be viewed. If you would like to view my blog, you can do so here. http://jww3.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHey Nahel,
ReplyDeleteI want to first say that your explanations are by far the best i have seen. "MEand the dollar got into a fight and I just dont see it anymore" actually made me laugh. I would have loved to see the videos but could find the link in your post. Hopefully you find out how so we could see some of those explanations. I also like how you gave some to homeless as they are the ones who need it more. I would definitely want to know the difference of giving it to the homeless rather than students. Were the homeless more willing to accept and have less questions. Did the students act nervous when you asked them. Were there any questions from the homeless? etc.
Very interesting blog post! I really enjoyed reading and watching your videos! The peoples reactions in the video were great. You really seemed to make their day. Respect for the homeless is great to have. It was very smart and kind of you to use this assignment as a way to give back to those that need. Furthermore, your criteria for who to give money to outside of the homeless is commendable as well.
ReplyDeleteNahel your personality I believe was very fit for this assignment because you seem like someone who cares deeply about the well being of other people. I know you must enjoy making other people's day, and inspiring other people to do the same.

Nahel,
ReplyDeleteNice to land on your blog again. Because I am sure you spent valuable time completing this assignment, be sure to edit this post and upload those videos so you can get credit for your work. Regarding the text portion, I agree that this assignment is fun and you can have really interesting conversations with strangers. Also, I love how you asked pretty girls -- it never hurts to get more practice with the ladies.
Although I didn't complete this assignment, I have attached the link to my blog and would love your feedback and input nonetheless.

I think it is so cool that you sought out people you thought really needed the money that is such a great way to go about doing the assignment. Also I think that by seeking out pretty girls it made the experience more comfortable for you and maybe even them. Also I am glad you found enjoyment out of this experience that's awesome, an entrepreneur in the making! Here is a link to my blog: http://courtneydscott.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteYou are the first blog to mention people being hesitant. When I first saw the assignment, I thought a lot more people would have been hesitant to accept the dollar. I thought your reasoning was pretty funny too. It's brave that you tried to go up to pretty girls and give them a dollar. I bet that was pretty intimidating. Check out my blog http://stent3003.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHi nahel, very cool! I like the fact that you gave two dollars away to homeless people in the not film them out of respect. I also found your second strategy of looking for pretty women to be intelligent as well haha. But in all seriousness, Great job confronting random people with humor and good on you for helping those that are less fortunate. Check out my blog below for other cool post!

Hello,
ReplyDeleteYour reasoning behind giving the dollar away is clever and funny. And kudos to you for giving away your money to the homeless people. This was another exercise that pushed us out of our comfort zone, yet you still managed to pull through.

I really like your approach to this assignment and it is good that you actually enjoyed doing it. I do agree that people can be hostile even when you are doing an act of kindness, and think it is cool that we both noticed that. It is nice that you gave some of the money to homeless people and I am sure they were very appreciative.
